Truth or Bare Fashion Tests

Modesty has become a hot topic here on the blog. In fact, almost 150 of you have left comments on our previous posts about the subject (if you haven’t read them yet, check out our archives).

Most of you seem to “get” why dressing modestly matters. In fact, I have been blown away by the number of you who are willing to buck the culture by taking a stand in this area. But one trip down the swimsuit aisle is enough to remind me that finding clothes that are both fashionable and modest can seem like mission impossible.

Dannah Gresh is the co-author of Lies Young Women Believe. She is also the author of Secret Keeper, an entire book dedicated to exploring the delicate power of modesty. She and her team travel all over the country teaching moms and girls the “how tos” of modest dressing.

As part of that effort Dannah created something called the “Truth or Bare Fashion Tests.” These are fun little tests that you can take to determine whether or not your clothes are modest. I thought it would be fun to share some of the Truth or Bare tests with you here on the LYWB Blog.

Check them out!

Test 1: The Raise and Praise

Target Question: "Am I showing too much belly?"
Action: Stand straight up and pretend that you are going for it in worship, and extend your arms in the air to God. Is this exposing a lot of belly? Bellies are     very intoxicating and we need to save that for our husband!
The solution: Go to the guys department and buy a simple ribbed T-shirt (Dannah calls these “secret weapons”) to wear under your funky short T’s or with     your trendy low riders. Layers are a great solution to belly shirts.

Test 2: Grandpa’s Mirror

Target Question: "How short is too short?"
Action: Get in front of a full-length mirror. If you are in shorts, sit Indian style. If you are in a skirt, sit in a chair with your legs crossed. Now, what do you     see in the mirror? Okay, pretend it is your Grandpa! If you see undies, or lots of thigh, your shorts or skirt is too short!
Remedy: Buy longer shorts and skirts! Long shorts are particularly fashionable right now. You can find them almost anywhere in lots of great patterns and     colors.

Test 3: Over and Out

Target Question: “Are my pants too low”
Action: You might need to ask your mom or a good girl friend to help you out with this test. Lean forward and touch your toes. Ask your mom if anything is     out of your jeans that you wouldn't want others to see. If so, your pants are too low!
Remedy: A secret weapon can come in particluarly handy in this case. They are made to be extra long. Simply tuck them in to your favorite pair of low         rider jeans and you're good to go. No matter how you bend and move throughout the day, nothing will show except your undershirt.

Test 4: Spring Valley

Target Question: “ Is my shirt too tight?”
Action: Place the tips of your fingers together and press into your shirt right in the “valley.” Count to three take your fingers away. If your shirt springs back     like a small trampoline, it is too tight!
Remedy: Don’t buy clothes based on the size. Buy them based on fit. Usually, you do have to go a few sizes larger these days to have a modest fit.

Test 5: The Palm Pilot

Target question: “ Is my shirt too low cut?”
Action: Place your palm flat with all your fingers tightly together. Hook your thumb onto the little shelf (clavicle) at the base of your neck. Hold your hands     flat against your chest. There should be no skin under your pinky, just fabric!
Remedy: Layering is a great way to wear trendy, low cut shirts without bombing the palm pilot test. Wear a cute tank top or t-shirt under a lower cut shirt     and you're all set.

These are just a few fun ways to double check that your clothing is modest. I take try to take these tests every day before I head out the door. Sometimes I find that I am wearing an outfit that I thought was modest, but simply doesn't pass the test. When that happens, I head back into my closest and change into something that I am confident keeps me cute and covered!

You are such a smart group of girls that I’m sure you can come up with some additional strategies for dressing modesly and fashionably. Why not share them here on the blog? I can’t wait to see what you come up with.

thank you for sharing that with us all!! I have always had a hard time telling what was modest. but what about swimming suits? I don't think we need to swim in jeans, but I would not wear a bikini ether. what are your thoughts. i am praying about it.

This is a great question, and one I've wrestled with a bunch. I'm not sure there is a such a thing as the perfect swimsuit, especially when striving for modesty, but here are the things to look for:
    1. bellies can be highly attractive to guys. I would stay away from suits that show belly (a.k.a. bikinis).
    2. Also watch for cleavage. Even if a suit fits well in the store, once you add water this area can get too exposed. Look for suits with high necklines.
    3. Why not apply the "grandpa's mirror" test to your bathing suit shopping? If you'd be embarrassed to wear a suit in front of your grandpa (or dad), don't buy it.

What do you think? What other guidelines should we apply to swimsuits?

I like the response by Erin. Also there are little skirts you can wear over your suit when not in the water that will help cover other parts that might attract the wrong attention. Its all about your heart attitude. Are you trying to please God in what you are wearing or are you trying to please man? If your heart is to please God then do not worry about what others might think about your "granny" suit. Gods opinion is the ONLY one that counts!

thank you for your advice. I recently got a swim suit and was not sure if it were modest. So I asked my older brother what he thought. i also asked my dad. I think God gave us brothers and dads for that reason also. I encourage all you girls to talk to your dad about it. If you are embarrassed about wearing it in front of them, maybe you should not wear it at all. thank you again!

    its not that hard....

Girls, honestly, it is not that hard to find clothes that are modest and cute. 2 years ago, i thought it was impossible, but lately things have been great. I'm into fashion, but i make my own style. Layering is one of my favorite things! And as long as you have a cami that doesn't show cleavage...and a polo...you're good to go. Aeropostale is one of my fav places to get shirts, because they are longer. I wait for sales...$20 is way to much for a plain t-shirt.
It does take time to shop around and even i get annoyed when i can't find anything modest and cute, but it's not impossible.
As for swimsuits. I wear a bikini when i'm with my girlfriends in their pool just to work on my tan(even though no one really sees it). When I know there are def gonna be boys around....if i even go swimming...I make sure my swimsuit is modest..and i wear shorts with it. Shorts with even a one-piece does look cute..and its modest too. :D

I know bathing suits are a big thing in the summer and I know it's important to have a cute one. I have found the solution in the tankinis(?). They are the bathing suits with the long tops. I know what you're thinking: EW! But some of them can be really stylish and be very moderate! They can be very cute! Try em' on! Also I was hoping for your feed back too guys (lywb staff). Lemmie know what you think of my idea of tankinis(?) ! Thanx!

Hey! I have a suggestion. I wear a modest swimsuit, but, I also bought a cover up. It is like a bath towel material, but it's not form fitting, or anything, plus it keeps me warm if I am going swimming in the evening and will be staying out into the night. So, I hope this helps!

It's SO hard to find a modest swimsuit! But, I found one at JCpenny and it covers so well! It's a skirt and a tankini top that covers everything! I was happy to find something like that! Guys think differently than we girls do. Usually when girls see other girls in bikinis, we think, "yuck!" or ,"that's gonna be a problem for some guy out there." Sometimes we are tempted to wear whatever we want and let guys suffer in their own temptations...they DO need to guard their eyes, but we need to dress in a way that would please our heavenly Father. When you try something on, think, if Jesus were standing right in front of you, would He be pleased with what you are wearing.

Like "GirlofGrace", I think it's a good idea to wear a t-shirt and shorts over your bathing suit. You can find board shorts [safe in the water] at Wal-Mart in the summertime. Also, you don't have to worry about what your bathing suit looks like. Faded? No prob, no one will know!

Hey girls!!! You all have this amazing desire to be modest with your swim suits and I really admire that! Me and my sister ran into the same problems you guys have. We totally understand and have been through many frustrations as well with getting a modest swim suit. So, what we did (please read the whole description) is we bought a bikini with shorts and a tank-top over the bikinis (it ended up looking extremely cute, and was MODEST!) The tank top wasn't see-through when it was wet. You buy each item separately, but in the end, if you think it through, it is totally worth it :) follow that and you get a cute, modest swim suit! Hope this helps some of you!

I think with tankinis you can't make the generalization that they are all modest or immodest. It really varies on each individual suit. Another thing to consider is that a swimsuit that one girl can wear and still be modest may not necessarily be modest on you. For example, halter cuts may be okay for smo girls, but if you have a lot to cover, it may be different. And taller girls may not be able to wear tankinis as easily as shorter girls. Longer torso = shorter top and more belly.
Just some things to think about. :-)

many places sell swim peices separatly (i know target does...) and in all colors and styles, so you're bound to find a top piece that is modest and matches your shorts. hope that was helpful!

I agree that generally tankinis are more modest, and rather than wear shorts with my suit, I actually found one with a skirt bottom instead of the traditional underwear-like one
And mine is like a halter top, but it has a tie in the back so I can make it higher to show less cleavage.

Swimsuits are the hardest thing for me to find. My mom has to make sure it si alright in every place and I have ot make sure I feel modest and not self-conscious. Self-conscious is something else you can use to determine if soemthing is immodest. if you feel s-c about the tightness of your pants or neckline then you probably should not wear it.
Back to swimsuits, i usually have to go to lots of stores b/c i am in between sizes. I love tankinis but they are expensive. There is something about bathing suits
    - One can usually tell what another promotes/stands for by their everyday clothes & swimsuit -
are you sending the right message to the world with you everydaywear & swimsuit?

I hate wearing one-pice bathing suits. I don't like how when it gets wet it clings everywhere. But I don't want to wear an imodest bikini. I don't want that kind of attention from guys but I do want to be comfortable when I swim. I tried tankinis and they were good but some of them still clinged. What should I wear when I go swimming then? I can't just not swim cause I live in Florida and I love to swim. Help?

    it IS a challenge
on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 3:03 pm
In my neck of the woods, it IS really REALLY hard to find modest clothes!!! not everyone shares the same struggles, but unless you are a really good seamstress, it is a huge challenge to find modest clothes! i shopped for 3 days every day and couldn't even find ONE skirt below the knee. i asked a sales lady if they had denim skirts. she took me to a rack of MINI SKIRTS! i was like, uh, i mean, skirts below the knee. she gave me the weirdest look! she's like "well NOWDAYS [as if!] girls don't wear those type of skirts. their simply not fashionable anymore." i kinda struggled to be nice to her after that! ;-) where can you find good modest clothes? cuz i'm REALLY super small (like size zero) and if, by some amazing chance i find some shorts (switching topic a little here...) that fit me in the waist, their ALWAYS too tight. so i have to get shorts (bermudas) that are too big in the waist so they'll be just a little bit loose. does anyone have any suggestions about where i can find modest bottoms that FIT!?!?!? i feel like i've looked EVERYWHERE... and well, i don't have a million dollars to spend on shorts too.....

    modest swimsuits
on Saturday, July 26, 2008 at 9:21 pm
When my sisters and I were little, our parents let us wear one piece swimsuits. After we got older, though, my Mom sewed us our own swimsuits that were two piece, showed no belly, had short sleeves, shorts, and a skirt that came down to the knee. The first year we wore these, we heard a lot of comments from other people. One boy even asked me how mine was made. That particular style didn't always stay comfortably on underwater, though, because the skirt and shorts were in one piece, so since then we have bought swimsuits from "Swim Modest", which has a website (www.swimmodest.com). They're rather expensive, but they are really cute and are similar to the ones my Mom made. They are a one piece outfit and the only thing you have to worry about is the skirt being flipped up when you're not in the water. The only time I have ever felt self conscious in one of their swimsuits was when I was wearing the largest girls size, but needed the built in bra that is in the ladies sizes.

i recently had to buy a bikini - there was simply no other option! my solution, is wear a tank top over it and your good to go!

ok so yea clothes are hard to find, and i even no how to sew but it doesnt help much because its a process. one piece bathing suits are uncomfortable, but i have 1 none the less. but, thats the only one i had. i couldnt find a tankini in my size anywhere! so, i was forced to buy a bikini. the simple solution is to wear a tank top over it. its not that complicated .. .about skirts- - i think its ok to wear a skirt just above the knee. if u cant find anything other than miniskirts, u can wear leggings, but its just not the same.
whered all the modest clothing go???? i mean, every time i go into the dressing room, everythings too lowcut, too tight, ect!! im considering my own fashion line lol

The quick-dry shirts in the active section of stores work perfectly over swimsuits. They are not clingy like t-shirts, and they dry SOOOO much faster! Board shorts work well over swimsuits as well. I wear a tankini with a quick-dry shirt and knee-length board shorts. Works perfectly! I think showing too much leg can be a temptation to guys, so I don't go without shorts, or short shorts for that matter either. Swimsuits alone are tight too, So I wear a shirt on top. Modesty sometimes appears to be a pain, but it is completely worth it to glorify GOD and not be a stumbling block to others!
    In response to Rebecca:
I personally do not believe it is wrong to wear pants or shorts, in certain aspects. Tight jeans are out of the question in our family, and mid-thigh shorts are as well. Actually, I rarely wear shorts (even bremuda shorts) because I'm not comfortable in them. I think that pants and capris can be modest and feminine if they are not too tight, but skirts always rate #1 in "femininity" in my opinion.

FOR THOSE WHO DON'T KNOW WHERE TO BUY CLOTHES....
Have you tried the thrift store/resale shop? Those tend to be the best place to find modest clothes at a decent price.
I also have some friends who have a modest boutique with really cute clothes at reasonable prices if you want to check it out!!!!

You have to get them kind of tight so they stay on and stuff- just like bathing suits. but they cover well.

hey, girls, I just went on the Rebelution website, and man, I had to drag myself off to come over here. Anyway, one thing that I looked at, was the Modesty survey. If you haven't already, go check that out. (I thought it was a bit hard to find, but it was worth it.) It had some great coments from guys on their thoughts on some of the clothes we wear and stuff. I found the swimsuit category really helpful. Some of the things we think are modest, are actually stumbling blocks to guys. (Till about half an hour ago I thought t-shirts over bikinis we ok, but guys think differently.)

I know what you mean about things being too tight or too short, just about anything but modest. So, I like to go to Goodwill, or Playdoughs Closet or other resaile places. Often you can find things that are brand new, for less than $5. And all the modest clothing, unfortunately, seems to end up in places like that. Also, try layering things that are too low, as long as there not too tight, that will make it modest and still look cute.

Lately my sister has been annoying me about what I wear. My Dad usually gets on me about my clothes if they are not modest, which is rare because my Mom and I try to pick clothes that fit right and aren't too short or too low. But it was my birthday a few days and we celebrated and then I saw my sister had bought me some clothes from Aeropostale, they were medium shirts and I said to her that I usually buy a large because the shirts run really small and she says that my shirts are always baggy and it makes me look overweight. LOL. I'm not overweight though and anyone WITH a brain would be able to know that. But I'm not like my sister. She wears short shorts and sometimes low shirts and usually her shirts are tight. She says I dress childish though I am only a teenager. But it's annoying. I'd expect this from girls at school not from my own sister. I'm just trying to wear what feels comfortable to me and something that is also modest. I wish she'd just stop worrying about what I wear and worry about herself. :(

I found out that I don't show my belly button too much. And I don't wear skirts, but however I do wear short shorts and I think that I should switch capris, Thanks! It turns out that the pants that I'm wearing today were too low so I just put on a belt. My shirt isn't too tight, but thanks for having me check. I don't need to layer this time. Thanks so much!

    Testing...
on Wednesday, August 6, 2008 at 12:36 pm
#1 is no problem for me because I naturally have excess skin there, so I naturally don't let it show because it makes me look like I have belly fat or even will make me look about 3 months pregnant. It bugs me, so thankfully, I don't have to deal with that, although I do check.
#2 was a great check for me. When reading that one, I was a bit concerned about a couple skirts at first, especially since I have a tendency to sit with my legs apart, but they pass the test, so that's good! Now if I can only get into the habit of crossing my legs...
#3 is one I have a problem with because the only kind of jeans that fit me right are basically "bell bottoms". So what I actually do is I'll wear a longer top with it so that I don't have to layer!
#4 was one I should've used months ago when those tight tops actually fit me right. But now they don't, and I actually like a lot of the fashionable loose-fitting tops better anyway.
#5 is one where I have trouble. I mean, I'm big-chested, but my cleavage doesn't show as high up as most girls and women. My chest kind of sits lower on me, so although the fabric doesn't quiet meet pinkie, my cleavage is completely hidden. Would you consider that ok???
I also love what you had to say on swim-suits. I'm so glad that I don't have to worry about bikinis, since they don't fit right on bottom anyway. I wear tankinis, though, and that makes it just as hard and sometimes even harder to find a good swim-suit. Thanks for the tips; I may need to get a new swim-suit soon, so those tips will become very handy when I need to get a new one!

Well, Mom and I work together on my clothes. Anything I by, she gives her apruval first. It is a good team. She can really be soo much help to me! Unfortunetlly, I am really big in the cheast, though I am not over weight. I just am naturally, so shirts are sooo annoying. Basicly, anything but a turtle neck is too low. grrrr. I wear tank tops under every single thing I wear, but still, a little clevige shows. It drives me crazy!

It is so hard to find modest clothes! I'm EXTREMELY tall and everything that would look good on other girls looks too small for me. Expecially bathing suits!! They're always too low or too tight or the expose my stomach even when I find one that doesn't go to low it's WAAAAY too highcut on the thigh. I don;t know where to shop anymore???

I know somtimes tucking in your shirt is okay but to some people would think that that is not very fashionable if you don't want to tuck in your shirt just find a reasonably priced pair of not so low riding jeans I know it is not that hard because that is all i buy ( cant afford those expensive name brands)

when i was at camp this year no one could where bikini's so alot of the girls had tankini's they don't show stomach and they aren't a one peice. and they got them in the maternity section. the swimming suites that are now in the jrs department are usually bikinis with really low bottoms. and the modest swim suited there are usually not cute. so go for the maternity section lol. or if you find a cute modest top with not so modest bottoms...then put a pair of shorts over them. thats what i do. :)

Here's just some suggestions: if you are a swimmer and love the water, beach or pool and you don't know what type of swim attire would be good for you, then just buy a regular one piece or two piece swimsuit and put a pair of long shorts (I prefer basketball shorts, bought in the boy's department) and a t-shirt on top which isn't low. Or sometimes if I'm just with my family and really close friends, I'll wear a tank top which is really high, showing no cleavage or anything. I'm very careful with what I wear when I swim. It just has to be right and modest for me. I can't stand those swimsuits which they make for those reasons of being modest, I just like to wear shorts and a t-shirt over. That's my opinion though!

If you can't find any cute modest swimsuits, here's an idea i thought was kind of cool and cute: Just wear any kind of swimsuit, and then top it with a cute colored cami (or tank top...) For the bottoms there are lots of cute skirt bottoms, or board shorts are becoming more popular too! And if the cami (or tank) matches the bottom it totally looks like it goes with the suit! Hope that helps! :D

Here's an idea for modest swimsuits....it's what my sisters and I wear. Surfing shorts, or swimming trunks, and a t-shirt. Surfing shorts over a regular swimsuit is good too. Maybe that will help some!

I have thought about these questions in my daily life. I know what it feels like to made fun of, but you have let these things go. Some girls at school make it a habit to make fun of me because of what I wear, that I don't wear makeup yet, and that I don't have cool friends. They are the kind of girls that say bad words. You know whatt I am talking about, don't you? It isn't that easy to say no to things you know aren't right. I have been there before.

I beg my mom for bikinis all the time, even though I know the answer all ready. Now all I ask for are things I know my mom likes. She doesn't really go for the halter tops, but if they don't show that much skin, she'll take it. But if she finds a better 1 piece, she would rather have me buy that one. Is anyone else's mom like that? I love my mm and the decisions she makes, because I know they are for the best for me.

Hey! I was so excited to read about you spending 3 days and still not finding any long skirts! That's just like me and my sisters! And we often get that look when we ask for long skirts too! I wear skirts 365 days a year (of course not in bed!!) and I work in a greenhouse so my skirts wear out pretty quick. I been looking out for skirts for months but haven't found any. I've decided to go to one of those stores where they sell consignment clothes. They often have long skirts there (though it seems gross to wear someone else's clothes!). Last night I spent an hour trying on tops and only one was not too tight. One was so tight I almost got in a panic trying to take it off!!
People think we're crazy and you always get put in a box when they see you wearing a skirt (if you know what I mean) And when you finally do find a skirt it's usually so tight you can hardly walk in it or there's a long split in the back. But my Mom showed me how to fill in the split. People think it's wierd to not wear make up. But I'm not against a little bit, but I just don't wear it cause I couldn't be bothered! Sometimes, I wish people would just take it easy and leave us alone even if we don't dress exactly like them.
Had SOOOOO much fun over this website! Don't know many poeple that care about trying to look modest. Cheers :)

I have struggled countless years trying each year to find a swimming suit that was modest, cute, and afforadable...but no matter how many stores my mom and I went to, noone seemed to have the "Right Thing"

There was a group started on Facebook called, Bring Back Modesty. So, if you have facebook, you might want to find that group! The picture is of two hands holding a heart in them...I can't remember exactely but... :-)

Also, a note to Jules, wow! I really respect your dad's convictions. Because I am homeschooled, wearing a skirt for me is as normal as talking...(I do that a lot! lol!) But yah, I agree, Jeans do go with everything! It is funny!

Oh well! Well I had better sign off!

maybe im too late sorry but you can make skirts with jean. i have like two and i were them day in and day out. i know what you mean. you can buy a cheap pair of jeans and open up the legs and sew in a triangle piece of fabric. it makes for a really cute skirt. or you can go to http://mariemadelinestudio.typepad.com/mariemadeline_studio/2008/08/re-use-those-je.html or if that is too flashy, http://www.fashion-icon.com/fall_2001/jeansplicing.html but i would just use old jean for the insert. hope this is helpful.

yeah, the swim modest swimsuits are really nice. you can choose what type of fabric you like. we usually wear t-shirts with shorts (boys shorts sometimes because they are more modest) but those swimsuits are a lot cuter! recently, our mom went to a sports store and bought us swim shirts which are less revealing than T-shirts. they are adult's so they are guys or girls, but they are really cool. they have turtle-necks, and sleeves. not sure if you guys can get them in America. this is a European store i think. it's called Decathlon.

If any of you have not read the book 'Secret Keeper" by Dannah Gresh, you really should. I read it recently at my friend's house. It's a great book. IT's written in a way that is easy to understand, but it gets the point across. it really makes you feel special, and also makes you WANT to be modest. It's definitely worth it!

Great question! I guess it is that time of year again huh?

    Here is my advice.
    1. steer clear of bikinis. Trust me they are highly intoxicating to guys.
    2. Tankinis can be a good route. But make sure they completely cover your midriff.
    3. Be careful about cleavage. When suits get wet they can get loose in this area. Halter type suits are good.
    4. I think that board shorts with a tankini top are a great option. Board shorts with a bikini top...not so much.

Let me know what you come up with. I am always looking for new ways to be cute and modest.

O.k I was just wondering what you thought on it my opionion is that If youre swimming with just other girls or with close family ( your dad or brothers) then you san swim in whatever you want well mabey not a bikini with your brother or dad but i got a really cute halter top tankini with shorts that i feal compltly comfortable in around brother, dad and other girls!

but when if you swim with other guys (besides your brother or father) then i sugest boys swim shorts that go below the knee (you can get some really cute ones try some on!) and for the top i dont sugest a swim suit top of any kind cause can you really buy a swim suit top that isint form fitting? But they make make ummm.. like sport shirts that i have that are made out of slik material so thay dont cling when they get wet! that way you dont have to worry about showing any thing any where!

even though this hasnt been commented in a while, i still have to! i am allergic to nylon, spandex, and polyester which is pretty much everything in a swim suit. i bought a halter top tankini with skirt bottoms. and under the tankini i put on a plain cotton pink undershirt and then i sewed the undershirt into it, and made the neckline higher. being allergic to everything in a bathing suit is a bit like a modesty blessing in disguise :D

If your tankini's low cut, that's not a good solution. There are lots of cute ways to make sure that you're covered up. Try board shorts and a t-shirt or a cute tank top. Just make sure that you've covered those parts that might cause others to stumble.

I am so sorry it has taken me so long to respond to you. Sometimes my inbox gets flooded!

Obviously, I wish you hadn't made the choice to send that text message. You are so precious, and I hate to think about you letting a guy in on the most intimate parts of your beauty. I know that you don't want me to dish out condemnation, but I don't want to just say "it's okay" either.

The great news is that God will freely forgive you if you ask Him to. 1 John 1:9
promises, "If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness."

He will forgive you fully if you ask.

I would say that this is just a symptom that you may be believing some serious lies. It sounds like you have wrestled with identity and beauty lies in the past and that may be coming back into your life right now.

Have you read Lies Young Women Believe? If not, I highly recommend that you do. It will teach you the process of identifying which lies you are believing and replacing them with God's Truth.

Also, I would strongly encourage you to seek out a Christian mentor in your own community. There is only so much I can do in this blog format. But meeting with a wise Christian woman on a regular basis can really help you combat Satan's lies.

I know that it can be really scary to ask for help, but it is necessary when our lives get out of control.

Is there anything else I can do to help you right now?

Sorry it's taken me time to reply! I forgot I posted here! Lol

Anyway, I understand where you're coming from with telling me it's NOT ok but I'm not going to hell forever and ever. I've written letters to God in my prayer journal asking for forgiveness. Let me tell ya, the moment my pen wrote the words "forgive me" I seriously felt calm and had a sense of inner peace. the weirdest part was that I felt like I was being hugged by God! Idk but it was really awesome.

Well, I talk to this girl, Rebecca, who is like my sister (we even call eachother sis). But I don't regularly meet with her because she lives an hour away. Idk who to talk to but she calls me on the phone about twice a week.

I don't think there's anything else you can help me with. My mom found out and she is friends with the guys mom so they talked and the picture was deleted. He's not allowed to talkto me at school and my mom blocked his number. Just keep praying for my emotional scars please. You must have a long prayer list...

Thanks for all the help you've been and the work you do on the blog!

But not a tankini either. my only question is because it shows some stomach. Is it okay to wear around girls at least? Plz reply.

I know how difficult it is to find a modest suit, Eva. I so appreciate your heart to be modest even in your swim wear. Showing your stomach is not being modest. As Erin said, bellies can be very intoxicating to a guy. You never know when a guy might show up – so it would be to keep looking and take a look at some one piece suits, Eva. It is better to be certain you are dressed modestly than to be concerned about a guy wandering in and being tempted. Praying that God will help you find just the right suit!
