- He is our shield and a righteous judge (7:10-11).
- He encourages and listens to the afflicted (10:17).
- He is the Shepard who restores our soul (23).
- The Earth is the Lord’s along with everything in it (24).
- God is our Rock! (Psalm 28)
- He is close to the brokenhearted (34:18).
- He is enthralled by my beauty and yours (45:11).
- He is the creator of my inmost parts (139:13).
- He is worthy of our praise (150).
The entire book is really a collection of poems expressing who God is. This type of expression doesn’t have to be limited to the Old Testament writers. We can write our own psalms to God, simply by expressing all that He is and all He has done for us.
What would your Psalms be? What words would you use to express who God is?
Let’s create our own book of psalms. I’ll get the ball rolling. You can read my psalm below. You can join in simply by writing out a song or poem to God praising Him for who He is.
I praise you for you are exceedingly good, you have signed a covenant of love with me.
I praise you for you made every part of me, you have signed a covenant of love with me
I praise you because you know who I really am, even so, you have signed a covenant of love with me
I praise you because you use my tiny offerings, you have signed a covenant of love with me
You gave me love, and family, and purpose, you have signed a covenant of love with me
You give me health, you have signed a covenant of love with me
Even when I am old, and my health has faded, you have signed a covenant of love with me
You are my coming King, I believe you will come back for me, you have signed a covenant of love with me
I am nothing without you, but with you I have an eternal kingdom, you have signed a covenant of love with me.

HEY, GIRLS! We love hearing from you, but feel limited in the ways we can help. For one thing, we’re not trained counselors.
