Has Life Stolen Your Dance?

Today is my birthday. It’s weird to think about, but I was born on this exact date 30 years ago (that’s right, today I’m the big three-o!). It’s hard to imagine it now but I once weighed little more than five pounds and fit snuggly into the arms of my mom and dad. I don’t remember those baby days, but I do know that soon after that first birthday, I started to dance.

Tell Me About Him!

For a long time now, I’ve wanted to sit down and write out things that are true of my Lover. Not just so I can brag on Him to others, but so when I’m feeling unloved and unpursued by other men, I can remind myself that I have the love of Someone who’s infinitely better!

What Have Your Eyes Seen Lately?

The fourth most-searched word on the Internet for kids ages 7 and under in 2009 was “porn.” For all kids up to age 18, sex was No. 4, porn No. 5. (According to data collected by OnlineFamily.Norton.com.) This supports some research I saw a few years ago out of Britain, stating that the average age of the first inception of pornography has dropped from around twelve or thirteen to age seven or eight. Seen any lately?

It's Harder For Me to Dress Modestly Because...

Today’s styles do make it harder on those of us who are a little curvier, but with a few tips you can not only pursue modesty, but look a few pounds lighter, too!

What Matters to You?

Is there a topic you’d like to see us address? Is there a question about the Bible you’ve been dying to ask? Here’s your chance. We want to hear from you. What topics would you most like us to address on LYWB.com? What are the issues you’d like us to be talking about?

Is God Dead?

The last time I posted about depression on this blog, you responded with sixty-nine comments. I take that as a sign that it’s is an issue worth discussing. Really, I didn’t need to read sixty-nine comments to know that. All I have to do is look at my own story to know that depression is real. It hurts. It’s confusing.

What You're Doing Right

I hate teenager bashing! I spend enough time with young guys and gals to know that you’re fantastic. It bums me out when other adults or the media portray you as apathetic, mindless and rebellious. That’s why I love articles like the one I just read titled: “What Today’s Teens are Doing Right.”

When All Else Fails ... Throw Flour

Living out God's Truth is a choice. Stress is part of life. Bad days will come. Defeat and despair will always knock at the doors of our hearts. We can react in ways that hurt ourselves or others or we can find a way to keep going and cling to the hope God offers us in His Word.

Are you Mad at God?

Have you ever prayed for healing that never came?

Have you ever faced a loss that didn’t make sense?

Have you ever desired to serve God but been denied the opportunity?

Have you ever been mad at God?

HALT!

There’s a principle—the “HALT!” principle–that I wish I had known as a teen, and especially as a young bride. Practicing it would’ve saved me from countless conflicts, I’m sure.

Yes, I’m Small…But I Know His Name

Pride is the sin that is said to be “pregnant with all other sins.” In small doses, it can still be deadly; leading us to envy, to covet, and even to hate.

The Spoiled Birthday Brat Syndrome

I look forward to my birthday the way most girls look forward to their wedding day. I count down the days . . . all year long. Call me psycho, OCD, or just plain weird, but on the eleventh of each month, I think with delight, “I’m __ years and ___ months old today!”

Are Gossip and Murder the Same?

Have you ever heard someone claim, “All sins are equal to God?” I have. For years I believed that this was a claim based on Scripture. Just like the other tough questions we’ve been tackling this week, after doing some digging I’ve discovered that it’s just not that simple.

Looking for "The One"

The idea that there is one person out there for us is certainly a romantic one. But to be honest, I’m not sure it’s biblical. I’ve been looking and I can’t find any evidence in Scripture that God creates one specific person to be our mate. I know that this has the potential to burst a lot of bubbles, but I still think it’s a subject worth tacklin

Does Everything Happen for a Reason?

When faced with difficult circumstances, I often hear people say, “Everything happens for a reason.” I can understand why we want that to be true. In the midst of relationship problems, illness, death, and disappointment we want to believe that what’s happening to us has great meaning and will ultimately work out for our good. But does this belief line up with the Word of God?

Does the Bible Really Say That?

This week, I’d like to tackle three ideas that I hear often on the blog and in my interactions with other believers. I want to know if they are affirmed or contradicted by what we find in God’s Word. I don’t have all the answers, but I am hoping we can dig up some serious truth together.

Don't Roll Back the Stone

I realize that we all struggle to be holy. But, this Easter, I don’t want you to miss out on the freedom Christ came to give. Jesus’ death and resurrection paved the way for your freedom, but it’s as if you’d rather stay in the tomb.
