Special Weekend Coverage: The Blessing

They say a picture is worth a thousand words, and since I feel wholly inadequate to describe the tenderness I saw pass between these women and girls, I’ll share several pictures with you. These moms and mentors are giving their daughters a blessing—not a scripted one, but a personal one.  I wanted to sit in on one of them and listen, but I didn’t think they’d really appreciate that. Oh, to be invisible . . .

However, I do have a friend (you can see the back of her head just above), Mary Elizabeth, who I talked to afterward. She said,

It was really moving whenever we had the blessing. Whenever my mom cries it’s moving to me. I mean, we talk to each other about everything.
I promised mom I would always wear this necklace. It’s a symbol that we love each other, and that I can talk to her about anything, and that I’m trustworthy and that I’m a good daughter to her. Sometimes she calls me an angel.

I asked her if I was a princess, too, and she said,

If you accept Jesus as your Savior, you’re a princess . . . It doesn’t matter about your fashion. I don’t know where it’s found, but that verse says “Man looks at the outward appearance, but God looks at the heart.”

There you have it. Thank you for your prayers this conference. World, watch out. 1,200 courageous princess warriors are now exiting the building!

If God’s laid a particular girl on your heart, register today for the next Pure In Heart Conference in Colleyville, Texas. If it’s anything like this one, it will be sold out weeks in advance.

And please continue to pray that God will bless and provide for these conferences. We’d love to be able to host 4-5 each year. We’re already receiving countless requests from churches. Even from churches in other countries like Singapore. We’d also love to create a “conference in a box.”

Well, my royal carriage is about to leave . . . I’d better scoot. Goodnight, ladies!

HEY, GIRLS! We love hearing from you, but feel limited in the ways we can help. For one thing, we’re not trained counselors. If you’re seeking counsel, we encourage you to talk to your pastor or a godly woman in your life as they’ll know more details and can provide you with ongoing accountability and help.
