Hannah FarverAllow me to introduce the newest member of the LYWB.com blog team. Hannah Farver is the founder of the minstry Beauty From the Heart (along with pal Lindsey Wagstaffe). She's already a seasoned blogger. In fact, we love the content on the Beauty From the Heart website so much, that we asked Hannah and Lindsey to join our blog team. Here is an introduction to Hannah. You can read her first two posts later this week.

Erin: Welcome to LYWB.com. We are so excited to have you on-board! Why don't you introduce yourself to our readers? Tell us a little about what makes you, you.

Hannah: Hi everybody! (*Waves*)

My name is Hannah Farver. I'm nineteen, the oldest of four kids, and have lived in Texas my entire life. I've been a bibliophile since approximately age seven (which means I collect books... it's nothing creepy, people) and love to read.

Recently, I got my very own dog (a Doberman puppy) that's taken up a great deal of my time. In between training him not to chew on the walls, chew on the furniture, or chew on my siblings' fingers, I like watching old movies from the 1940s, brewing tea, and chatting it up with friends.

Erin: Tell us about your ministry, Beauty from the Heart. How did it start? What is the primary mission of your ministry, and how do you live this mission out?

Hannah: Beauty from the Heart began as a blog by a friend and I back in 2005. We talk a lot about walking with Christ and what we're in the midst of learning.

Since 2005 Beauty from the Heart has gone through a ton of changes. Last year, we launched some conferences based on the topics we cover on the blog. It's been exciting to see what God can do—even through a simple website.

Erin: The focus of the Lies Young Women Believe Blog is to identify lies in the lives of young women and counteract those lies with God's truth. In what specific areas do you see young women being lied to most often? In what areas are you most passionate about presenting God's truth?

Hannah: The most pervasive lie I see among young women—including myself—is that we can find satisfaction outside of Christ. The lie says that we'll be satisfied by achievements, beauty, or a "dream guy." Really, that couldn't be farther from the truth. Our hearts were created to cry, "Christ, Christ, Christ," and nothing else will fit the bill. We were made for Him only.

Erin: What specific lies have most impacted your own life? How has God used His truth to give you freedom in these areas?

Hannah: I'm big on getting things done. I like knowing that I've accomplished a lot with my time, and I tend to place more value on those to-do lists than on God. I guess you could call it the lie that says, "Success determines your worth" or "You are only as valuable as what you do." But I'm (slowly) learning that God wants my heart more than He even wants my service. Like the story of Mary and Martha, God doesn't need me to busy; He wants me to be His.

Erin: What topics are you most interested in writing about on this blog?

Hannah: Ooh, good question. The theme of regaining a sense of wonder has shown up in my writing quite a bit lately. I'm realizing how desensitized we can be about God. Just think, we have the opportunity to talk with the God of the universe every day ... but we rarely let it faze us. I want to be in awe of God again.

At the same time, I've also been thinking about emotions and how it's vital to cling to God when we're in the midst of depression. Plus, so many girls feel alone when they face depression. We don't realize that the subject is covered pretty well in the Bible, particularly in Psalms. So, in other words, I'm excited to write about a lot of things.

Erin: Tell us one fun fact about you.

Hannah: I can't do anything athletic to save my life. Some of my friends joke that I can't even run. I'll have you know, I do know how, I just ... don't. The athletic gene definitely skipped me.

Hello Hannah!!!! I hope it's a comfort that you're more athletic than I am. I can't even throw a dodgeball, let alone a tennis ball. I have to skip out on almost all of the activites at my youth group because I'm so bad!!!! haha I'm atletically disabled... But I'm proud of it! :D haha

I look forward to reading your posts!
