Creative Ways to Bless Your Dad

I’m sitting here watching Finding Nemo with my mom and my sister, and as I watch daddy clownfish Marlin look for his little Nemo child I am reminded: Father’s Day is coming up. I haven’t figured out what I should do for my dad yet. A few years ago I trained our dog to get the paper in the morning, because his dog did that when he was a kid. Last year I think I made him a cake or something. I think he’s on a diet this year, so a cake is probably out and I don’t think Stormie needs to learn any more tricks, so I guess I need to figure out something new this year.

I know its cheesy and unoriginal, but maybe I will just write him a really nice card to remind him of some great memories, affirm him in what a great father he is, and stuff like that. Dads like that kind of thing. They get all teary-eyed and then you’re like “Dad, you’re crying??” and its weird but cool. If I write stuff that means something to me its going to mean something to him.

How do you bless your daddy on Father’s Day?

I was just saved 10 months ago, and my relationship with my dad hasn't been the best. God has been working wonders in our relationship, helping me to both love, honor and submit to my dad, who has yet to know the Lord (always hoping and trusting!). Does anyone have any ideas that I could use to bless him on Fathers day?

Thank you and love you sisters!

    Right on girl!
When I was little, I would make him something, cards and just about anything I could jumble together. I believe he still has the cardboard heart I cut out of a pizza box and painted for him when I was about six. LOL. As I got older, I started buying things. But the last year or so, I got back to crafting his gifts. Craftsmanship is something that God has gifted me with, and he's also given me a way with words - especially when heart-felt.

This year I started scanning into the computer old pictures of me and my daddy, and I believe it or not, use Microsoft WORD as a photoshop to put them all together. And I wrote him a poem/letter that I'm writing in the middle of it. My dad means a lot to me and there is so much in him that I admire. The sacrifices he's made, his commitment, just everything about what he's done and what he does -- it's about his family. So I really want to be a blessing to him. I can't think of a better way then writing him something.

You're right on, Lexi. Writing something is really a blessing. Your dad will appreciate it,and no doubt treasure the words you write to him. :)

    God bless,

    My Father's Day idea
on Thursday, June 17, 2010 at 12:31 pm
My Father's Day thing I give to my Dad I've done before, but its lots of fun.

Okay, every day my dad goes out jogging before any of us wake up. So, as soon as my dad leaves, I get up and make my dad breakfast. The day before, make like a menu kind of thing with all the things your going to serve your dad. Like a restaurant. When my dad got home, the rest of my family was there like waiters. We sat my dad down and he ordered his food with the awesome menu I made him. (before my dad sat down, we put a whoopy-cushion under the seat. just for some laughs. It really scared my daddy though.)
That's a good idea. You could do it for your dad, but try to make it your own.
    thnx lov ya<3

Last year I made a little book with home made coupons in it. My dad is kind of obsessive about our lawn and yard so some of them were like "2 hours of weed pulling" or "mowing the lawn" and other stuff that he likes like that. But I'm not sure what to do this year for him...

Dad has recently confirmed that he doesn't want anything for Father's Day, but my sister and I love to bake him his favourite snack - sultana slab! Thanks for the card idea though it's a really great idea just to tell your Dad how much you love him!

For mother's day and father's day combined, my brother and I are taking my parents out for dinner and go-carting after :) This way, we make memories and we have fun ourselves! My parents both like that better than getting gifts. This way, it's unique and special and everyone loves it :)

This year my dad is gonna fix my grandma's computer for father's day and he's just shrugging sayin' that it's ok. I made him a card, got him everything he wanted and more for father's day and we'll just try to pamper him with sweets like he loves it. It wont be the best father's day but were gonna make it work, you know?

I honestly don't know what I'm going to do. Mom got him a picture from family christian bookstores. it has a lab doggy on it sleeping with the verse, " i will lie down in peace and sleep for You alone Oh Lord make me dwell in safety. its a really nice painting :) for my family, do something a little different each year. might go out to eat, stay home, have a barbecue, etc.

    What I am doing

I'm framing a quote that says,

I know how to dream because you said"I believe in you.
I know how to stand because you said,"I'm proud of you.
I know how to love because you said, "I love you.
And I know who I am because you said, "You are mine."
    Dear Dad,
Thanks for teaching me to be the girl I am today and for inspiring me to be the woman I will become. I Love You!!

This father's day i'm going to give my dad the gift that i already bought him which is a little plaque that says "my father gave me the best gift ever- he believed in me" and i'm going to write him a nice long letter telling him how much i appreciate what he does for me.

Hey, gals, sorry i haven't commented in awhile. Countrygirl, i heard that youre back with God! I'm so happy i cried no joke. i haven't been on in awhile and i probably wont be on again for awhile because i got grounded (finally, i was waiting for my mom to start acting like a real mom and punish me for all the bad stuff i told yall about). and i wanted to tell you guys ive been praying for all of you and that youre all blessed and dont make the same mistakes as me trying to "make life exciting". God has given us each day and theres nothing that we can do about any other day than today so live life to the fullest. i hope that you all live in accordance to Gods will and stay true to yourselves. im trying to do this but its hard with taking care of my family and everything. my stepdad had surgery for his nerve pain and it is somehwat gone but still pretty bad. please continue to pray for my family because i think someone in my immediate family is considering suicide... and my older unsaved brother is going to college and someone is involved in drugs... countrygirl, our families sound alike lol. im so glad that youre doing well, i pray for you daily and i hope we can meet. i love you all, have a happy fathers day and i will be here sometime later.

    Daddy!

I live 8 hours away from my daddy but I spend summers with him as well as some holidays. My dad always says that something he hates more than anything about my move is that he can't hear me sing in church anymore. So on Father's Day we were driving to church for evening service just the two of us and I sang him one of my favorite Francesca Batistelli songs that reminds me of him. He said it was the greatest Father's Day gift he ever received.
